Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

In 1965, 16-year-old Robin Lee Graham began a solo around-the-world voyage from San Pedro, California, in a 24-foot sloop. Five years and 33,000 miles later, he returned to home port with a wife and daughter and enough extraordinary experiences to fill this bestselling book, Dove.

Review:

"A notable feat of stamina and adventure....Wonderful entertainment." Washington Post

For all of us who have ever experienced one of those Walter Mitty bigger than life dreams...this is the book for you. Robin Graham was no Walter Mitty. He lived an experience only a handful of people have ever even attempted much less pulled off. It is a coming of age story full of adventure, filled with danger and courage, ending with love and fullfilment. It is a true story about a young boy (16) who sails around the world in a small sailboat and discovers who he is and his place in the world. One of the best stories for anyone who dreams of adventure to read, but especially for young boys who often are searching for themselves and need a role model to compare their lives against. It's about facing doubts and fears and ultimately finding a way to persevere through it all.
