Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Trenton Native Stephanie Plum is out of work, out of money, and out of luck. Until she teams up with cousin Vinnie, a bail bondsman who shags bail jumpers for $10,000 a pop. Her first assignment: nail Joe Morelli, a former vice cop on the run from a charge of murder one. There's also a cranky ex-prize fighter dogging her and a nasty habit she has of leaping first and looking later — a habit that just might get her killed one of these days.

Synopsis:

Janet Evanovich makes a major debut with this witty and critically acclaimed crime novel. Meet Stephanie Plum of Trenton, New Jersey. She's a rookie bail bondswoman who has the awkward habit of leaping first and looking later when she's out snagging bail jumpers. It's not a job for the faint at heart, but it's tailor-made for Stephanie Plum.

What a trashy book! Shallow characters, grade school humor, poorly written book. I can't think of one nice thing to say about this "book". Spend your precious reading time with something else, almost anything else...

One for the Money is a wonderfully light story with some heavy overtones that keeps you riveted until the very twisted end. Love is a slick and slippery chasm that the main character, Stephanie Plum, struggles to keep from sliding into. Antagonism and sarcasm lightens a serious story, providing both intellectual stimulation as well as laughs.

I like the way she takes this job to pay her bills and the situations she ends up in while trying to catch the criminals. Her relationships and trying to get the cop out of trouble are entertainiing as they have a love/hate relationship.
