I've anxiously awaited the return of Rachel Morgan and her fellow Vampiric Charms partners, Jenks and Ivy. White Witch, Black Curse continues to develop these entertaining yet complex characters, and, as usual, Harrison includes several subplots that intrigue and add to the overall story. Rachel continues to kick butt and push the edge of the envelope in her quest to beat the bad guys. Again, I’m left panting for the next book in the series.

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Some wounds take time to heal . . . and some scars never fade.

Rachel Morgan, kick-ass witch and bounty hunter, has taken her fair share of hits, and has broken lines she swore she would never cross. But when her lover was murdered, it left a deeper wound than Rachel ever imagined, and now she won't rest until his death is solved . . . and avenged. Whatever the cost.

Yet the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and when a new predator moves to the apex of the Inderlander food chain, Rachel's past comes back to haunt her.

Literally.

Review:

"Confusion reigns for characters and readers in the complicated seventh urban fantasy outing (after 2008's The Outlaw Demon Wails) for witch detective Rachel Morgan. Rachel's reputation is in tatters — to save humanity, she used powers that are considered evil — and she's still devastated by the mysterious death of her boyfriend six months earlier. Her attempts to solve his murder bleed into a case involving an emotion-sucking banshee, and soon Rachel has to bring in her PI partners — Ivy, a bisexual vampire, and Jenks, a pixie in existential crisis — along with empathic psychiatrist Ford and the banshee victim's father, Federal Inderland Bureau captain Edden. Harrison's unique vampire mythology unduly complicates world-building, and newcomers will be desperate for a glossary, but the nearly nonstop action nicely plays off the poignancy of Rachel's difficult life." Synopsis:

The "New York Times"-bestselling author of "The Outlaw Demon Wails" returns to the sexy, supernatural adventures of Rachel Morgan.

About the Author

New York Times bestselling author Kim Harrison was born and raised in the upper Midwest but has since fled south to better avoid snow. When not at work on the Hollows series, she spends her time tending orchids, cooking with some guy in a leather jacket, and training her new dog. Her current vices include good chocolate and exquisite sushi. Her bestselling novels include Dead Witch Walking; The Good, the Bad, and the Undead; Every Which Way But Dead; A Fistful of Charms; and For a Few Demons More ; and The Outlaw Demon Wails.

Nacida en el Midwest, Kim Harrison ha sido acusada de ser bruja (entre muchas otras cosas), pero jamás ha visto a un vampiro. Le fascinan los cementerios, el jazz a medianoche y se viste siempre de negro.

For all you die hard Kim Harrison fans and lovers of all things Rachel Morgan, such as myself, you will not be disappointed. Kim takes us on a whirlwind adventure, taking place in a few short days(I read it in the same amount of time). We are introduced to the banshee, the lastest inderlander to need Vampiic Charms special kind of attention. I laughed and I cried as Rachel recalls the death of Kisten and together with Ivy (auramates)solves his murder. I can't wait to find what the Hallows has in store for us next.
