Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Unrequited love is hard enough when you're a normal teenage girl, but for Lily Sanderson, there’s no such thing as a simple crush.

Lily has a secret, and it's not her huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Lily's mermaid identity is a secret that can't get out, since she's not just any mermaid — she's a Thalassinian princess. When she discovered three years ago that her mother was actually a human, Lily finally realized why she didn't feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she's been going to Seaview High ever since. Living on land has its problems — like her obnoxious biker-boy neighbor, Quince Fletcher — but it has that one major perk: Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren't really the casual dating type — when they bond, it's for life.

When Lily's attempt to win Brody's love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily ever after never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.

Review:

"Full of fishy expressions, mermaid lore, and breathless underwater kisses, this lighter-than-air read will charm teens and tween girls who prefer their supernatural romances to be more Meg Cabot than Stephenie Meyer." ALA Booklist

Review:

"Bubbly, inventive and well worth a plunge." Kirkus Reviews

Review:

"Tera Lynn Childs has created an enchanting world of romance, magic and endearing characters you can't help but root for. Forgive My Fins had me hooked from page one, and I can't wait to immerse myself in its sequel! I simply adored this book!" Alyson Noel, #1 New York Times bestselling author

Review:

"You can't ask for a more perfect beach read.." Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books

Synopsis:

A teen finds herself abused, neglected, and hopeless on the icy shores of Alaska and expects to die when she tumbles to the icy waves below, but instead undergoes an astonishing transformation into a mermaid.  Elated when she is taken in by a tribe, she soon comes to realize there is more drama and malevolence there than she could've ever expected and has to decide if she can stand up for what's right.

Synopsis:

Fourteen-year-old Luce reaches the depths of despair when she is assaulted and left on

the cliffs outside of her grim, gray Alaskan fishing village. She expects to die when she

tumbles into the icy waves below, but instead undergoes an astonishing transformation

and becomes a mermaid.

A tribe of mermaids finds Luce and welcomes her in—all of them, like her, lost

girls who surrendered their humanity in the darkest moments of their lives. Luce is

thrilled with her new life until she discovers the catch: the mermaids feel an uncontrollable

desire to drown seafarers, using their enchanted voices to lure ships into the

rocks. Will Luce be pressured into committing mass murder?

About the Author

Tera Lynn Childs (Authora neo) is a newly discovered species of author fish who always dreamed of being a mermaid, but never got closer than a career as a competitive swimmer. She loves to spend as much time as possible in and around water (right up until her fingertips turn all pruney) in the vain hope that one day her legs will magically turn into fins. When stuck on land, Authora neo can be found writing in coffee shops across the country, prowling for cool mermaid gear on Etsy, and spending way too much time online. Tera is the award-winning author of several books for teens, including the mermaid romances Forgive My Fins and Fins Are Forever, as well as another mythology-inspired series including Oh. My. Gods. and Goddess Boot Camp.

Skeleton Key, March 18, 2012 (view all comments by Skeleton Key)
This is the first mermaid book I have ever read. The whole time I was squealing like a fan girl because the story is adorable. We all want that special one, even if they don't see it at first. That's what Lily fins out when she's stuck with Quin for a while. She would give up everything for love, but what about her home? Lily learns that appearances aren't everything.
