Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

This is the story of a little girl named Fern who loved a little pig named Wilbur — and of Wilbur's dear friend Charlotte A. Cavatica, a beautiful large grey spider who lived with Wilbur in the barn. With the help of Templeton, the rat who never did anything for anybody unless there was something in it for him, and by a wonderfully clever plan of their own, Charlotte saved the life of Wilbur, who by this time had grown up to be quite a pig.

Review:

"Wilbur, a lovable pig, is rescued from a cruel fate by a beautiful and intelligent spider named Charlotte. Told with delicacy, humor, and wisdom...a perfect blending of fantasy and complete realism." Booklist

Charlotte's Web is a beautiful tale about a little girl named Fern, and her spring pig named Wilbur, and of Wilbur's dearest friend, a gray trapper spider named Charlotte. Because Wilbur was born a runt among the other pigs, Fern's father decided to kill it. But Fern insisted on keeping the pig. Before long, they sold Wilbur to Fern's uncle, Mr. Zuckerman. It was in Mr. Zuckerman's farm that Wilbur established a strong relationship with Charlotte. In order to save Wilbur from being slaughtered for the Christmas feast, Charlotte devised ways to save him. To find out more on how the beautiful and intelligent spider saves Wilbur from his cruel fate, read the book Charlotte's Web. You'll surely enjoy it because Wilbur truly is, 'some pig'.
