Deep emotional wounds may seem like they will never heal. However, with The Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Sourcebook, Dr. Glenn Schiraldi offers a remarkable range of treatment alternatives and self-management techniques, showing survivors that the other side of pain is recovery and growth.

Live your life more fully-without fear, pain, depression, or self-doubt

  • Identify emotional triggers-and protect yourself from further harm
  • Understand the link between PTSD and addiction-and how to break it

I found this book quite helpful, even though I am well-read and knowledgeable to begin with on trauma and PTSD. The writing is clear and would be easy to read even for someone with no background in psychology/trauma etc, and there is ample info on many of the problems caused by PTSD and ways to deal with them.

That being said, I sincerely wish it had talked more about things like Complex-PTSD and the effects of long-term, on-going trauma and how that greatly *differs* from single or repeated incident trauma, especially as it claimed to be comprehensive on the subject of PTSD in general. I feel that was a major lack, which could be really problematic for readers dealing with more severe/complex trauma and not understanding why they don't "fit in" to the definitions/symptoms etc. covered.

Despite that, I would recommend it, with the caveat to whoever read it that it is missing that and some more up-to-date info in the field.
