...Until the Dickensian law firm of Willis and Willis summons her to a reading of the woman's will. Down-on-her-luck Lori learns she's about to inherit a siazable estate--if she can discover the secret hidden in a treasure trove of letters in Dimity's English country cottage. What begins as a fairy tale becomes a mystery--and a ghost story--in an improbably cozy setting, as Aunt Dimity's indominable spirit leads Lori on an otherworldly quest to discover how, in this life, true love can conquer all.

Synopsis:

Lori thought Aunt Dimity was just a character in a family bedtime story until a law firm summoned her to a reading of her relative's last will and testament. Lori will inherit a sizeable estate--if she can discover the secret hidden in a treasure trove of letters tucked away at Dimity's English country cottage.

Down on her luck rare book specialist Lori Shepard is contacted by lawyers, who inform her she has just inherited a set of letters written by her deceased mother to a special friend. In the correspondence Lori discovers a new side of her mother, and comes away changed herself.

A fast and charming read mixing mystery, romance, and whimsical fantasy. Readers looking for hardbitten mysteries should steer clear. Very believable and enjoyable characters, and wonderful development in the course of the story.
