Publisher Comments:

The latest title from award-winning author Jim Crace, about two corpses and the story that they tell in death; their devotion evident. "This slim book is the work of one of the most distinctive and talented writers of our time. This is a work of near-genius." Justin Cartwright,"Literary Review". "Magnificent"Caroline Moore"Sunday Telegraph" Crace's recent novel, "Quarantine" was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and won the Whitbread Novel Of The Year Prize.

Synopsis:

The author ponders the redemptive power of secular love in this novel. Their bodies had expired, but anyone looking at them could see that Joseph and Celice were still devoted, the couple seemed to have achieved a peace the world denies, a period of grace, defying even murder. They were still man and wife, quietly resting, dead but not yet departed
