Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Reflecting the variety of modern Spanish literature, these stories range from the sharp insights of Gabriel García Marquez's "María dos Prazeres" to Isabel Allende's powerful evocation of the oral traditions of the Amerindian "Walimai," the deceptive simplicity of Javier Marías's "On the Honeymoon," and the philosophical speculation of Laura Freixas's "Absurd Ending."

Synopsis:

A new version of the "Parallel Text" series, containing ten pieces of contemporary fiction in the original Spanish and in English translation. Complete with notes, this is a useful component of language studies and provides an insight into Spanish and Latin American literature and culture.

This is an excellent book for middle level Spanish students. My community Spanish class uses it. It allows you to read prize-winning short stories written in Spanish without constantly referring to a dictionary for unfamiliar words. There are many Spanish language groups in Cleveland (Ohio) and we anticipate selling many of this title.
