Publisher Comments:

Halley has always followed in the wake of her best friend, Scarlett. But when Scarlett learns that her boyfriend has been killed in a motorcycle accident, and that she's carrying his baby, she's devastated. For the first time ever, Scarlett really needs Halley. Though their friendship may be tested by the strain, like a true friendship, it will endure.

Synopsis:

Halley and Scarlett have been best friends for years, sharing secrets, clothes, and crushes--but they've never had to share the kinds of things they face their junior year. Death, pregnancy, and new love put a lot of pressure on the girls' friendship.

I really identified with this book. Halley's struggles with trying to find her place despite her overprotective mom-- they reminded me of the conflicts I have with my own mother (being a teenager as well.) A great introduction to a great author-- Sarah Dessen. It seems so realistic and true-to-life that you completely understand Halley's frustrations and fears.

Someone Like You is an inspiring book with an outstanding moral. In this book Sarah Dessen writes about high school juniors, Hally and Scarlett. Ever since they became best friends Halley always looked to Scarlett for advice and support. But this time Scarlett needs Halley. In this book you will learn what it takes to be a good friend, as Halley helps Scarlett through her long journey, after her former boyfriend’s death. A passage from the book that inspired me was when Halley was telling Scarlett “We can do this. I know we can” after Scarlett’s melt down. With the help of Halley, Scarlett might make it through to be a stronger and more responsible young adult, even after her life-changing mistake. If you are looking for a good book, I highly recommend this book to all young adults.

This book is about death, and teen pregnancy. At times it is sad, and even overwhelming. Other times it is inspiring and proves that anyone can do anything. Sarah Dessen is a wonderfully talented author who puts love and care into every book she writes. She is one of the best authors, and is one of my favorite!!!! I recommend ANY of her books!!!!
