Jasper Fforde returns to BookWorld in this New York Times bestselling installment of his Thursday Next series

Jasper Fforde has thrilled readers everywhere with his gloriously outlandish novels in the Thursday Next and Nursery Crime series. Now, after a two-year hiatus, the demand for Thursday Next has more than tripled. And with Thursday Next: First Among Sequels, Ffordeandrsquo;s famous literary detective is once again ready to make the world safe for fiction. Thursday Next is grappling with a host of problems in BookWorld: a recalcitrant new apprentice, the death of Sherlock Holmes, and the inexplicable departure of comedy from the once- hilarious Thomas Hardy novels, to name just a fewandmdash;all while captaining the ship Moral Dilemma and facing down her most vicious enemy yet: herself.

I really enjoyed this the 5th in the series. It's been quite a while since I had read one of this series and I continually found myself in awe with the world that Jasper Fforde has created. As a person who likes artistic endeavors I find myself a bit covetous of this original idea. So glad I have the 6th book on my shelf to read next! I picked up the first book in the series, The Eyre Affair on a whim, read it, loved it so much that I read the entire book out loud to my husband while on road trips and we've kept it a tradition ever since! Highly recommend this author!

Another hilarious addition to the Thursday Next series, this story takes on time travel, family dynamics, ghosts, intertextual travelling into the classics, and questions of self-identity. It is densely plotted, quick moving and very funny. If you've ever wondered what the Bennetts do when Pride & Prejudice is not being read, wonder no more. Pick this up and find out!
