This was one of my favorite books (and series) as a child and I still enjoy it as an adult. Princess Cimorene is a fantastic heroine who refuses to sit back and allow her life to become a typical fairy tale where she marries a handsome prince and lives happily ever after. Instead, she runs away from her family and volunteers to be the princess to a dragon named Kazul, a position that involves a lot more adventure. If you like remixed fairy tales full of brave heroines, pudding-consuming dragons, melting wizards, and recipe-swapping witches, then this book, and this series, is for you and/or you child. Put down the Disney; THIS is a princess story.

This is the first of four books, and it starts out awesome.
Cimorene is a princess who prefers latin, sword-fighting, magic, and cooking to embroidery and dancing.
So she runs away to the dragons.
They will never be the same.

This is a wonderful book! It is really funny and has a very strong female character. She will brook no nonsense from silly princes. Very clever and witty.
