Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Knocked from her mothers safe embrace by an attacking owl, Stellaluna lands headfirst in a birds nest. This adorable baby fruit bats world is literally turned upside down when she is adopted by the occupants of the nest and adapts to their peculiar bird habits. Two pages of notes at the end of the story provide factual information about bats. “Delightful and informative but never didactic; a splendid debut.”--Kirkus Reviews

This is an amusing story about a little bat trying so hard to be a good bird after he was accidently dropped into a nest. There is a moral here too about how we can be different but get along together.

Sweet story about a baby fruit bat who becomes lost, lives with a bird family, then rediscovers her bat identity and family. A favorite of my 2-yr-old son. Beautiful illustrations. This is a book that deserves hardcover presentation. The best of Janell Cannon's books.
