Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

In and out of hospitals since birth, angelic nine-month-old Morgan Reid finally succumbed to what appeared to be Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Morgan's Texas-born mother Tanya, a nurse and devoted wife, pulled up stakes with her grieving husband Jim, and moved on. It was the best way to put the past behind them. Until their son Michael, a boy who by all accounts was terrified of his mother, began showing signs of the same affliction that stole the life of his baby sister...

First, the suspicion: Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. Then, Tanya was charged and convicted with felony child abuse of her son. She was later tried and ultimately convicted for first degree murder of Morgan. It would become a landmark trial that unfolded in a series of reversals and bizarre twists of fate as it gradually revealed another side of Tanya Reid — of her own troubling childhood and the dark secrets that drove a woman to the cruelest deception of all...

This was a great book, sad story but well written. It’s not possible to understand this woman or her motive. Even if she needed the attention, wasn’t there other ways to get it. Heck, go out and have an affair that is better then killing your child. Not that I condone an affair but my goodness. And to think she is being released sometime this year, that is ludicrous to me. People that get caught selling drugs in our country get more time behind bars then this woman is getting for killing her infant baby girl. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, that a mother can kill her daughter, and hurt her son and so many others and only get this little of time. What is wrong with our system? Whose side are they on? My opinion she will do it again, when given the chance. I say this because in her eyes she never done anything wrong, so what is there to stop her from repeating it, when she’s convinced she is saving someone’s life. This woman needs to be locked up forever for what she done. Sure I feel sorry for her children that they are motherless, her mother that has a monster for a daughter and her siblings. But! They too aren’t helping her by denying that the woman has a real issue. No one can help or stop her until she admits that she is guilty of harming others.

I think Tanya Reid is a sick, sick woman. Who would risk the lives of their children to get attention? I have 2 children of my own and i WOULD NEVER even think of harming them in any way shape or form. The woman should be on death row for killing her daughter and abusing her son. Maybe it would make her see how her children felt when she suffocated them.

I met Tanya Reid in the early ninetys and I feel she should have gotten life imprisonment for what she did to Morgan & Matthew, who in their right mind could hurt or kill their own children. After she was sent to Iowa Corectional Facility for Women in Mitchellville, Iowa she acted as if nothing had happened and she shouldn't be there. A few people whom she got close with ( Especially her gay lover Johnny) in prison in Iowa cried when she was transfered to Texas for the Murder Of Morgan where at first she faced life but ended up with 40 yrs. and will be eligable for release this yr. 2007 and be released in 2008.
