Publisher Comments:
Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife — between desire and danger.
Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.
Review:
"Isabella Swan, 17, narrates this riveting first novel, propelled by suspense and romance in equal parts. The story opens with a cryptic scene of the heroine 'facing death,' then flashes back to Bella's departure from Phoenix, where her mother lives with her new husband, as the teen heads off to live with her father, the police chief in Forks, Wash. From the first day at her new high school, she finds herself magnetically drawn to Edward Cullen, whose behavior towards her is erratic ('I'd just explained my dreary life to this bizarre, beautiful boy who may or may not despise me'). Then she finds out why his interest in her runs hot and cold: he is a vampire — but of an unusual variety. Edward, his siblings and their adoptive parents have disciplined themselves to feed on animals rather than humans; and Edward is obsessed with Bella. Other elements factor into the plot, including a rival group of vampires who are not as disciplined as the Cullens. This plot twist (which includes a subplot about one of the Cullens' past life) contributes to a rushed denouement (much of it takes place offstage) that is perhaps the novel's only weakness. The main draw here is Bella's infatuation with outsider Edward, the sense of danger inherent in their love, and Edward's inner struggle — a perfect metaphor for the sexual tension that accompanies adolescence. These will be familiar to nearly every teen, and will keep readers madly flipping the pages of Meyer's tantalizing debut. Ages 12-up." This book is the best book I have read in a long time. I don't really read much but this series I couldn't bring myself to put down. When everyone was telling me to read twilight that it's about a vampire I wasn't too interested, but when everyone kept talking about it I felt out of the loop so i read it. After i started reading it I got into it and i loved it. Now i've read all of them and love them all. Twilight is still my favorite of the four though.

I remember when I first came across Twilight – I read the back of the book and put it right back on the shelf, after saying to myself, “No Thanks!” (I generally prefer Monstrous Vampires as opposed to Romantic ones)
Not too long after, I noticed New Moon, and then Eclipse, and most recently I have seen all of the Midnight-Pre-Order Parties for the fourth and final novel, in the series, Breaking Dawn.
Then, to top it off, I saw a trailer for the movie, based on Twilight, which is coming out in December.
After all of this, I figured there must be something to this series, so I decided to give it a shot. . .
Kudos to Stephenie Meyer!!! (Even if I had wanted to hate this novel, it would have been Impossible to do so!) Stephenie has written a very suspenseful novel, where you just keep flipping the pages, faster and faster. I do not think that the novel would have been anywhere near as good as it was, had it been written by a man. The romance that kindles between the main characters and the emotions that Bella goes through are completely realistic! You immediately feel for all of the characters within the book, which speaks on how good of an author Stephenie truly is. She is basically the American J. K. Rowling. I cannot wait to read the remaining three books in this saga!!
Now, as far as the Vampires go, do not expect the Monstrous kind, which I usually prefer, nor expect the glamorized ‘Anne Rice’ kind.
Stephenie has tweaked the Vampire Mythos in her own unique way – one that totally works for the book that she has written.
Definitely give this series a shot!! Hopefully, like me, you will not be disappointed!!
