Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Packed off to the remote Scottish Police College for a lesson in teamwork — after hurling a mug at his supervisor's face — Inspector John Rebus finds himself in a snake pit. His classmates, an unruly band of rebel cops known as Resurrection Men, are suspected of orchestrating an elaborate drug heist, and Rebus is recruited by headquarters to get to the bottom of matters. It's no easy task: the investigation threatens to uncover a secret Rebus has spent years trying to conceal, and before long Rebus finds himself in the thick of a scandal with conspirators seemingly everywhere — men who have no problem spilling blood to get what they want.

Review:

"Rankin keeps topping his own best work." Kirkus Reviews

Review:

"The clever, funny, perfectly pitched dialogue develops the characters and moves the story....Resurrection Men is what good crime fiction should be — a puzzle that challenges the eye, but worth the effort of putting all the pieces in place." Philadelphia Inquirer

Review:

"If you haven't experienced Inspector Rebus, this is a good place to start." The Washington Post

Review:

"This isn't one of Rankin's top efforts, but even coasting, he leaves most police procedurals at the gate." Publishers Weekly

Review:

"For anyone who likes a mystery with literary flair and without a sermon, this is an eminently satisfying read." People

Review:

"In Resurrection Men, both police officers, and Rankin, shine." Boston Globe

Review:

"This is Rankin at his best, and, boy, that's saying something." Time Out

Readers can always depend upon Ian Rankin to deliver the goods in his police procedurals. RESURRECTION MEN is a good example. Inspector Rebus is sent to spend time at a 'cop's college' to learn teamwork. He doesn't expect to have to tangle with a group of rogue colleagues who are reputed to have pulled off a drug heist. Both interesting and entertaining.
