Publisher Comments:

Millions of readers are aware of the widespread acclaim that has greeted the novels of Anne Rice, one of the most successful bestselling authors of contemporary fiction. Perhaps not as well known to many Rice fans is the critical analysis inspired by the celebrated author who single-handedly revitalized the fiction of the fantastic with her unforgettable vampires.

Now, Katherine Ramsland, author of the acclaimed Anne Rice biography, Prism of the Night, has collected some of the most fascinating essays, articles, and interpretations of Anne Rice's complete works by a variety of journalists and scholars. Here are writings on all aspects of Rice's novels, ranging from a history of vampire literature to a professional dominatrix's examination of Rice's erotica to a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film version of Interview with the Vampire. From tales of the vampire Lestat to those of the Mayfair witch dynasty, and from the evocative historical epics to the uninhibited erotica, THE ANNE RICE READER presents a captivating range of perspectives on the imagination of a writer who has enthralled her generation.

What a great insight into a great mind!
This book is extremely well organized and most definitely unique. I?ve read a lot of Anne Rice and read a lot about Anne Rice, but nothing to this extent. Ramsland invites the reader into Rice?s world through a wide variety of spectrums including stories, journals, biographies, articles, interviews and reviews. Ramsland reaches back into Rice?s early career and into sensitive topics that every Rice/Lestat/Vampire fan should know about but never wanted to ask.
