Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Star attorney Claire Heller Chapman has known only love and respect from her successful husband. But now police are saying Tom Chapman is not who he says he is. Thirteen years ago, they claim, he had a different face and a different name — and was responsible for a crime so heinous that only a maniac could have committed it. Now Claire must put her reputation, her family, and her life on the line to defend this man she never knew — in a case where all the evidence is classified, all the rules are being changed around her...and the stakes are higher and deadlier than she or anyone else could have ever imagined.

Synopsis:

Claire Heller Chapman is a star Harvard law professor and high-powered attorney. But a random burglary at their Boston home triggers a chain of events that reveals Tom, Claire's husband, is not who he says he is. Suddenly he's on trial for a crime he insists he didn't commit, and she must defend him. Now a major motion picture from TriStar that reunites Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman of "Kiss the Girls."

About the Author

Joseph Finder was born in Chicago in 1958 and spent his early childhood in Afghanistan and the Philippines. He was educated at Yale College and the Harvard Russian Research Center. An expert on the CIA and international politics, he has written for The New York Times and The Washington Post and he taught at Harvard. His first novel, The Moscow Club, published to great acclaim in thirty countries, predicted the coup that ended the Soviet Union. Extraordinary Powers, his second novel, anticipated by several months the explosive revelation of a mole high in the ranks of the CIA. His most recent novel with Morrow, The Zero Hour, sold before publication to twenty foreign countries, and a motion picture is in production with Twentieth Century Fox. Finder lives in Boston with his wife and daughter.
