An often recommended book that I have recently finally finished and I would have to say that it is one of the most important works of modern fiction that I have read. Duncan's insights into the sculpting influences of ideals and ideologies, of passions and disappointments and the men and women who emerge from such influences is profound. His wit, humor and acute understanding of the deeper truths, simply shouldn't be missed.
