Publisher Comments:

JO LAROUCHE HAS lived her 13 years in the California desert with her Aunt Lily, ever since she was dropped on Lilys doorstep with this note: This is Jo. Please take care of her. But beware. This is a dangerous baby. At Lilys annual Christmas costume party, a variety of strange events take place that lead Jo and Lily out of California foreverand into the mysterious, strange, fantastical world of Eldritch City. There, Jo learns the scandalous truth about who she is, and she and Lily join the Order of Odd-Fish, a collection of knights who research useless information. Glamorous cockroach butlers, pointless quests, obsolete weapons, and bizarre festivals fill their days, but two villains are controlling their fate. Jo is inching closer and closer to the day when her destiny is fulfilled, and no one in Eldritch City will ever be the same.

Synopsis:

In his debut novel, Kennedy composes a rollicking, ridiculous fantasy about a13-year-old girl, left in the desert as a baby, who now goes in search of hertrue identity.

This is a dangerous book.

Children exposed to it are likely to disappear for hours, if not days. They may become obsessed. Adults might laugh so hard while reading that they fall over, and perhaps spill a beverage. Yes, the danger is that serious.

And yet, this book belongs on your shelf. You know the one: with Roald Dahl and Douglas Adams, "The Phantom Tollbooth" and "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." If you do not have such a shelf, well... you've got some work to do. Start with The Order of Odd-Fish.
