Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Visual models and experiments for those who wish to use expressive and evocative color in three-dimensional design. TO THE BASIC GRAMMAR OF COLOR and form presented in the first edition of Dimensional Color, artist/professor Lois Swirnoff adds a chapter on color structure and expands one on color and light. Exploring the interaction between light, color, and surface, the book provides an invaluable tool for the use of color in architecture and design.

Book News Annotation:

Swirnoff (Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, New York) relays the basic grammar of color and form derived from experiments conducted with her students on the interaction of light and surface. The original (1989) text has been revised to include a new chapter on color structure and an expanded chapter on color and light. The experimental work has been consolidated into sequential chapters, and the visual models are now accompanied by titles. For use in teaching and in design practice.
