Paradise Lost is a great epic poem. Milton writes so well, with references to both Mythology and Biblical text, one has to stop and sort out what is from his poem vs. the Holy Bible. For anyone who is not clear of the fall of man, Paradise Lost will paint a very close picture to that of the Bible. There is also a very defined explanation of why Satan, once Lucifer, is no longer an angel. For those who are unaware, Adam and Eve were not the first to fall from God's grace - It was an angel.
This edition of Paradise Lost has extra reading within its covers that sets it aside from the other editions. It is a necessity for the classic bookshelf, and a great companion to any text in a literature course.
