This classic children's book is a wondrous, almost mystical read. The story is beautiful and the prose is lovely and spare, combined with illustrations that are utterly gorgeous, haunting and unforgettable. This is a perfect read for a cold winter's night before the fire. I have treasured my copy since I was a small child, and it will always have a place on my bookshelf.

A wonderful book to read to a small child. It is beautifully illustrated. It also has a very calming story about a child who ventures out into the night with her father, discovering the nature of night.
