Publisher Comments:

Best-selling author, Chris d'Lacey, brings us a magical story about mysterious hand crafted clay dragons who have unusual powers.

When David moves in with Liz and Lucy, he discovers a collection of hand crafted, clay dragons that comes to life and has magical powers. David's personalized dragon, Gadzooks, can forecast the future, and inspires him to write a story which reveals the truth behind an unsolved mystery close to home. The story has an unhappy ending, and when David realizes the consequences of it he is angry. Then David finds Gadzooks crying and near death, and he discovers that these special dragons die when they are not loved. Soon David is forced to save his friend and unlock the powers of the fire within.

the fire within is a truly good book, with the faces of reality along with twists of fantasy. I think this book is a very good long read for someone who is into realistic fantasy. Liz and her daughter Lucy are potters who make clay dragon and have been waiting for someone to rent out a room for extra money, "david rain" the tenate looking for a room for collage, come along and rents it out. Once they make him a clay dragon, "gadzooks" his life and all he believes in gets turned upside down. This is a story of dragons in the modern world and how they have survived hidden to mankind. I think this is a good read for anyone who likes fantasy and is into dragons, and squirrels.
