Publisher Comments:

Meet the All-of-a-Kind  Family — Ella, Henny, Sarah, Charlotte, and Gertie — who live with their parents in New York City at the turn of the century.

Together they share adventures that find them searching for hidden buttons while dusting Mama's front parlor and visiting with the peddlers in Papa's shop on rainy days. The girls enjoy doing everything together, especially when it involves holidays and surprises.

But no one could have prepared them for the biggest surprise of all!

Looking for a read-aloud to share with your young daughter? Want to escape Barbie and Bratz? This charming book works well as a chapter-a-night book because each one take a small moment in this pre-WWI New York Jewish family's life and produces a delightful vinette that appeals to the 5, 6, or 7 year old. The joy the girls take in small things - their penny allowance, a trip to the library - also remind us to find gratitude in small things. My daughter, age 5, enjoyed conjecture about "which sister am I?" I read these as a child and am really enjoying the reread with my girl.
