Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The Wave is based on a true incident that occured in a high school history class in Palo Alto, California, in 1969.

The powerful forces of group pressure that pervaded many historic movements such as Nazism are recreated in the classroom when history teacher Burt Ross introduces a "new" system to his students. And before long "The Wave," with its rules of "strength through discipline, community, and action, " sweeps from the classroom through the entire school. And as most of the students join the movement, Laurie Saunders and David Collins recognize the frightening momentum of "The Wave" and realize they must stop it before it's too late.

Synopsis:

"The Wave" is based on a true incident that occurred when a teacher conductedan experiment dealing with group pressure in his classes.

"Strength through discipline, Strength through community, Strength through action." When a high school teacher is giving a lesson on Nazi Germany his kids start to wonder why and how the Germans didn't turn on Hitler. The Wave is all about the Third Wave Experiment and the effect of the Nazis. I felt that even though the book is short it is a great read. You need to be mature to read this book because it talks about a lot of sensitive topics that should be dealt with care. It is very descriptive and the details of the surroundings and situations is wonderful. There is no specific type of genre that you have to like to enjoy this book, but you need to enjoy historic lesson meaning in it. I thought that this book was a a great book and a perfect read for anyone.
