Publisher Comments:

Taylor is the name, John Taylor. My card says I'm a detective, but what I really am is an expert on finding lost things. It's part of the gift I was born with as a child of the Nightside.

I left there a long time ago, with my skin and sanity barely intact. Now I make my living in the sunlit streets of London.

But business has been slow lately, so when Joanna Barrett showed up at my door, reeking of wealth, asking me to find her runaway teenage daughter, I didn't say no.

Then I found out exactly where the girl had gone.

The Nightside. That square mile of Hell in the middle of the city, where it's always three AM. Where you can walk beside myths and drink with monsters. Where nothing is what it seems and everything is possible.

I swore I'd never return. But there's a kid in danger and an woman depending on me. So I have no choice — I'm going home...

Review:

"A fast, fun little roller coaster of a story...macabre and thoroughly entertaining." Jim Butcher, author of Summer Knight

Synopsis:

From the New York Times bestselling author, the beginning of an exciting new series of "hard-boiled" fantasy novels.

Synopsis:

John Taylor is not a private detective per se, but he has a knack for finding lost things. That's why he's been hired to descend into the Nightside, an otherworldly realm in the center of London where fantasy and reality share renting space and the sun never shines.

For John Taylor, there's no place like home...

Synopsis:

Meet the operatives of the Carnacki Institute—JC Chance: the team leader, brave, charming, and almost unbearably arrogant; Melody Chambers: the science geek who keeps the antisupernatural equipment running; and Happy Jack Palmer: the terminally gloomy telepath. Their mission: Do Something About Ghosts. Lay them to rest, send them packing, or just kick their nasty ectoplasmic arses…

In a quiet London suburb, four university students participating in an experiment inside a reputed haunted house hold a séance that goes terribly wrong. What—or who—ever they summoned has taken their minds away, leaving them empty shells.

Enter the Ghost Finders, ready to confront an enraged poltergeist for the students very souls.

All in a days work—except the team doesnt know that in another part of the city, a different entity has also breached the threshold between worlds. And this time what is at stake is not four lives—but the very existence of all humanity.

Something from the Nightside is the first in the series of Nightside novels by Simon R. Green.
You are led through the Nightside by the lead character, John Taylor, and he introduces you to vast numbers of interesting characters and personalities that live in and below the Nightside, now, the past, and the future. Mr. Green gives Taylor a wonderful turnofphrase throughout the story, and the books are exciting to read. But they are not for the faint of heart. After reading this first one, I was hooked, and have finished ten. Number twelve was released Jan. 2012.
