Our language blossoms out in the synonyms. The synonyms make our language the pictorial. All above is the truth, but that's just a secondary thing. The synonyms help us to see what we are looking at: depicture the word as if from all possible angles. Thus the improvement in language testifies the spiritual growth of a talker.
Therefore I would name the Synonym Finder by J I Rodale not a good book but the best friend.

This is, without doubt, the best synonym book on the market. I have had the older edition (blue cover) for several years and find it invaluable when I'm searching for just the right word. Whether writing a personnel evaluation, report, speech, whatever, recommend it for anyone who wants to break away from using the same words over and over.
