This is a magnificent book written after after extensive study and research of voluminous Nazi documents. It traces the beginning of probably the darkest era of human history and shows how many world leaders watched helplessly as Hitler consolidated his hold over Germany and militarized the nation furiously. When the tide of the war turned against him on the oombined onslaught of the allied powers, his megalomania and arrogance prevented him from seeing the writing on the wall which ultimately destroyed the nation. The corporal of the First World War blamed the politicans for Germany's defeat and as the supreme dictaor he blamed the soldiers for the defeat in the second War.

All in all a unputdownable book and a must read for anybody interested in world history
