One of the creepiest books that does develop slowly but effectively, read it before watching the movie or the movie's version will ruin that development.
King writes the characters well and ends the book appropriately, but I will not ruin it by saying more. Read this book before you travel to the mountians to stay at a cozy lodge.
Top twenty horror books of all time, in my opinion.

The Overlook hotel, is not a place anyone wants to be during the winter when it is closed. Scary things happen and the care takers have a tendency to become victims.
This is a must read for any fan of Mr. King!
