Return to New York Times bestselling author Anne Bishops “phenomenal” (Urban Fantasy Investigations) world of the Others—where supernatural entities and humans struggle to co-exist, and one woman has begun to change all the rules…

After winning the trust of the terra indigene residing in the Lakeside Courtyard, Meg Corbyn has had trouble figuring out what it means to live among them. As a human, Meg should be barely tolerated prey, but her abilities as a cassandra sangue make her something more.

The appearance of two addictive drugs has sparked violence between the humans and the Others, resulting in the murder of both species in nearby cities. So when Meg has a dream about blood and black feathers in the snow, Simon Wolfgard—Lakesides shape-shifting leader—wonders if their blood prophet dreamed of a past attack or a future threat.

As the urge to speak prophecies strikes Meg more frequently, trouble finds its way inside the Courtyard. Now, the Others and the handful of humans residing there must work together to stop the man bent on reclaiming their blood prophet—and stop the danger that threatens to destroy them all.

I read so many good books this year, but Twilight's Dawn was a book I eagerly awaited. This collection of short stories set in Bishop's world of The Black Jewels, is a stunning "conclusion" for Daemon and Janelle and the many characters fans have grown to love, from The Black Jewels trilogy on through her sequels and standalones. Each tale brings a good sense of fulfillment and completion for these multifaceted and ever intriguing "witches". Though there is considerable sadness, there is always loss and sacrifice in their world. You come to accept that. Struggles for power, love and peace come full circle in ways that still manage to shock and surprise even hardcore fans of the series. I cried often, aching along with certain characters as relationships were forever changed and some major characters come to pass. Some were rather difficult to accept, even in fiction. I love these characters that much.
This has always been a sexy, thrilling take on the battle against good and evil, where the lines are often blurred by passion and need, but our main characters stay true to themselves and fulfill their destinies. I absolutely loved this book. Bishop's writing is as darkly delicious and beautiful as ever. And heartbreaking, as well.
Earlier, Bishop stated this was the end of their world, their stories are complete. After much distress and out and out begging from many fans, she has gone as far as to say there may, down the line be more. I have my fingers and toes crossed. Easily 5 stars.
