Publisher Comments:

Ferris Bueller meets La Femme Nikita in this funny, action-packed young adult novel. Its prom night—and Perry just wants to stick to his own plan and finally play a muchanticipated

gig with his band in the Big Apple. But when his mother makes him take Gobija Zaksauskas—their quiet, geeky Lithuanian exchange student—to the prom, he never expects that his ordinary high school guy life will soon turn on its head. Perry finds that Gobi is on a mission, and Perry has no other choice but to go along for a reckless ride through Manhattans concrete grid with a trained assassin in Dads red Jag.

Infused with capers, car chases, heists, hits, henchmen, and even a bear fight, this story mixes romance, comedy, and tragedy in a true teen coming-of-age adventure—and its not over until its “au revoir.”

Review:

"'I'm eighteen years old. In a month I'm going to graduate, I'm waitlisted at Columbia... and this — whatever this is — isn't part of the plan.' That's Perry Stormaire as his prom night goes from disaster, when he's forced to escort dowdy Lithuanian exchange student Gobija Zaksauskas, to something more like Kill Bill after Gobi turns out to be a stunningly effective (and also stunning) assassin. What follows is a whirlwind night of explosions, shootings, stabbings, and car chases as they traverse Manhattan and Brooklyn with Gobi picking off targets over Perry's protests. As if this situation wasn't stressful enough, adult author Schreiber opens each chapter of his YA debut with a college admissions essay question ('You've just written a 300-page autobiography. Send us page 217'), which should provide a few more palpitations. It's very well targeted at male teens, with a breakneck pace, quick repartee, hot cars and women, a well-rendered New York City backdrop, abundant action, and some food for thought about what it means to be a man. Plain and simple, it's a blast. A couple of them, actually. Ages 12 — up." Publishers Weekly (Starred Review) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

Its prom night, and Perry just wants to play a much-anticipated gig with his band in the Big Apple. Instead, his mother makes him take their quiet, geeky Lithuanian exchange student to the dance. But the night isnt all punch and corsages, and Gobi is not who she seems. Perry ends up on a reckless ride through Manhattan with a trained assassin in Dads red Jag. With car chases, hits, henchmen, and even a bear fight, this story mixes romance, comedy, and tragedy in a true coming-of-age adventure. And its not over until its “au revoir.”

Synopsis:

It turns out that Gobi Zaksauskas is not the mousy teenager that she seems but rather an attractive, confident trained assassin. Instead of going to the prom, Perry finds himself on a wild ride through the streets of New York City as Gobi commandeers the Jaguar his father lent him for the prom in order to take out her targets. Perry learns a lot about himself – and ends up with some amazing material for his college application essays.

Au Revoir is a very silly, very fun quick read. Perry is a normal teen. He would rather play a gig in Manhattan with his rock band than go to the prom, but his parents force him to take their geeky, frumpy, anti-social Lithuanian exchange student to the prom before she heads back to Europe. On prom night, Gobija comes down the stairs wearing a hideous traditional Lithuanian festival dress. Perry is mortified, and of course, his fears are realized when, as soon as they enter the prom, the high school bullies pick a fight. Perry runs away. Gobija puts all three football players in the hospital. She then convinces Perry to drive to Manhattan where she can get them into Jay Z's night club. What 18 year old kid would say no to that? Upon arrival, Gobija goes into the bathroom looking like a 1930's Frau great-grandmother and emerges a few minutes later looking like Angelina Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith - giant gun and all. Next thing Perry knows they are fleeing the police and he is an accessory to murder. Turns out Gobija is an assassin with a very long hit list and a very short timeline. How is Perry going to save himself and stop Gobija? How do you stop a highly trained killing machine? What was she doing living with his family all those months? How is he going to explain bullet holes in his father's $80,000 Jaguar? Au revoir Crazy European Chick will appeal to all readers who just want a good entertaining read.

This is such a fun book! Each chapter begins with an essay question or statement for the main characters college applications. Very creative! I loved this book, it was non stop action packed! It starts out at a good pace with Perry setting the stage for what is to come, once Perry and Gobi leave his house it's packed with gun fights, high speed driving and professional assassination hits.

Gobi is hilarious! Within the first 20 pages readers fall in love with her humor. This is a title that people of all ages would enjoy it's also a title that would adapt well on the big screen.

Perry and Gobi are very believable characters as well as Perry's parents. The dialogue was good and the flow of this novel was wonderful, I just wish it was a little longer!

I would highly recommend this novel!
