I found this book interesting reading and in many ways helpful. However be aware that this is what I would call "popular psychology" genre, not rigorous science. For a book on pop psychology I think it is well done. It is always interesting to read the case studies and reports on human behavior. The thesis seems to be that we now understand more about how our brain processes social situations and this somehow helps us understand social connections and how to improve or at least manage them. I'm not convinced that has been shown. Nor do I think Goleman adheres to the accepted definition of social intelligence as it was originally intended. That being said, Goleman writes well and the book is popular. I'm not surprised that it received a positive review from "O"--The Oprah Magazine.
