Publisher Comments:

Steven Thomas is one of two lucky winners of the U.S. Basketball Writers Associations contest for aspiring journalists. His prize? A trip to New Orleans and a coveted press pass for the Final Four. Its a basketball junkies dream come true!

But the games going on behind the scenes between the coaches, the players, the media, the money-men, and the fans turn out to be even more fiercely competitive than those on the court. Steven and his fellow winner, Susan Carol Anderson, are nosing around the Superdome and overhear what sounds like a threat to throw the championship game. Now they have just 48 hours to figure out who is blackmailing one of MSUs star players . . . and why.

Last Shot is a unsuspectingly good book. I picked up this book because I have a love for basketball and when I saw that this book includes both a championship game and a blackmailing mastermind I thought I MUST READ THIS BOOK. The book is mainly about a star basketball player named Chip who is getting blackmailed and must throw the NCAA championship game to have the blackmailing stop. But when two kids named Steven and Susan help Chip uncover who is behind the blackmailing everything changes. Again this book is superb and I recommend it to anyone who loves a good mystery and loves the game of basketball.

I know absolutely nothing about sports, but I still loved this book and would highly recommend it. It has great characters and it goes by very fast. The plot is never slow or dull.
