I read this book when I was a young girl. (I am now 43) I have never forgotten the story and just recently read it again. It still has the ability to transport you to the river and the life and trials of Chancy and the Grand Rascal. This is just a good all around adventure with a large dose of humor thrown in.

A wonderful book for boys ages 8-12. Simple yet entertaining with flowing action. One of my favorites. I must have read it at least ten times when I was young.
