STEWIE GRIFFIN MEETS GRUMPY CAT IN A BOOK FOR CAT LOVERS OF ANY AGE!
He's free! The Amazing Hamweenie, legend in his own mind, hero to millions of adoring fans who have yet to meet him, has finally escaped the evil clutches of the little girl who showers him with love and stuffs him full of delectable treats. Where will our tortured star go? To the circus, of course! The spotlight of center ring beckons him — the elephants, monkeys, and tigers in desperate need of a leader. Hamweenie will gift them with his presence!
So why is it that his greatness goes unappreciated? Does no one recognize a true star when they see one?
In this companion to The Amazing Hamweenie, Patty Bowman brings a touch of Edward Gorey, a dash of Stewie Griffin, a pinch of Grumpy Cat, and even a shake of Maru to the secret mind of one adorable pet cat.
Praise for The Amazing Hamweenie
"Hamweenie (you just can't write that name too much) dreams of being loved the world over and imagines an intricate Macy's Hamweenie balloon flying over the real version of himself, as he sits atop a float while crowds cheer. Readers will too." —Booklist
"So adroitly does Falconer charm and entertain, that it is easy to overlook the consummate skill required to completely capture personality in spare line and economical text. Sly, ironic details and superb book and page design support the effort....Fans will not be disappointed by this uniquely new sequel."Kirkus Reviews
"The circus performers are sick with ear infections, but, luckily for all, Olivia knows 'how to do everything.'...This story is more complex than the first, and, in a few instances, one wishes for smoother narrative transitions. However, Falconer has successfully sustained and built upon his delightfully original portrayal of the feisty Olivia, her vivid imagination, and her strong sense of self."School Library Journal
"The little pig-girl is just as adorable, just as insouciant as she was in last year's debut. This time there's more of a story, but the charm is still in the charcoal art, kissed with dollops of red. Parents and children alike will recognize Olivia's many moods: exasperated, determined, smug, triumphant." Booklist
The porcine recipient of a 2001 Caldecott Honor award is back in a delightful sequel. Everyone's favorite piglet returns to school after summer vacation and is called on to tell the class what she did on her time off. Soon it's apparent that Olivia's simple trip to the circus turned out to be a busy day of high-flying fun! Full color.
For anyone with a beloved pet, this delightful and heartwarming story set at the circus shows that quiet qualities like friendship, kindness, and loyalty are important and worthy.
Jane is an ordinary dog in an extraordinary circus. She isn't strong, graceful, or brave like her family. When she tries to be those things, Jane just doesn't feel like herself, but she also doesn't feel special. Is she really meant for this kind of life? Her Ringmaster thinks so, but not for the reasons Jane believes.
Ordinary can be extraordinary!
