About the Author

Cynthia Rylant is the distinguished author of more than sixty books for young readers. She received the Newbery Medal for Missing May and a Newbery Honor for A Fine White Dust. two of her picture books, When I Was Young in the Mountains and The Relatives Came, are Caldecott Honor Books. Her other acclaimed works include the award-winning Henry and Mudge beginning-reader series, the Cobble Street Cousins chapter-book series, and the self-illustrated picture books Dog Heaven, Cat Heaven, Bless Us All: A Child's Yearbook of Blessings, and Give Me Grace: A Child's Daybook of Prayers. She lives in Washington state in a house with a lot of windows and pets.
