A Sandra Boynton creation and delightful in every way possible. If you are looking for a gift for the intellectual who has everthing, or want a fun way to introduce beautiful early music to a child, this booklet and CD are the way to go. Based on the familiar children's story of Farmer McDonald we are introduced to his farm, E-I-E-I-O, his busy chickens (beautiful harmoized sopranos), complacent sheep (full choir), indolent cows (deep bass), ducks (Altos), and pigs (tenor). Everyone sings in latin except the piggies who perform in pig-latin (of course!). The booklet offers a full translation so that you can follow the story of a day on the farm. For adults the story is full of excellent humor - the cows sing "Allemooia", the Farmer chants to "Soooo-ee", and the chickens sing of "Gloria in eggshells each day-o" (with a very humerous treatment of the 'day-o'). The culmination is that the music is a joy to listen to. The sopranos are clear and the notes soar and flip in the air, the harmonies with the altos are perfect medieval intervals, the tenors lovely and the bass deep and rich.
