Fans of Mo Willems will love this funny bedtime story!

Ahoy! It's bedtime, and Octopus is here to help his buddy get ready. First up is a bath (Thank you, Octopus) . . . in egg salad (No, thank you, Octopus)! Then its time to brush teeth…with paint brushes!  And don't worry, Octopus made sure there were no monsters under the bed…because theyre all in the closet! No, thank you, Octopus!  Each page turn brings new wordplay and laughs in this hip, nautical-themed take on bedtime and friendship . . . ending with a great big surprise for Octopus and sweet dreams for two best friends.

It's getting late, but the pigeon won't go to bed! Will you let him stay up late?

Everyone's favorite Pigeon is back for this interactive bedtime romp, in which he tries to escape his inevitable bedtime. Illustrations.

Contrary to the other review, I think this book is appropriate for all children. It doesn't so much give them excuses for staying up late ("I"m not even tired!") as it points out how silly are the usual arguments for staying up late. The book is interactive (kids have to tell the pigeon "no") and kids remember the pigeon when they get fussy before bed. My son always reminds me that the pigeon thinks he isn't tired when he actual is. My son is three. Get this book, get all the pigeon books. Your kids will thank you and you'll thank yourself. That is, unless, you don't have a sense of humor.

This book is probably best for the upper end of the recommended age range, who might find the pigeon's naughtiness funny, as his antics simply gave my 2-year-old a crash course in how to delay bedtime. And heaven knows no toddler needs more excuses to delay bedtime than they already devise on their own. Willems' stories strike me as suited more for adults to reminisce on the humorous quirks of children, than for the children themselves (sort of like "Childhood is Hell" by Matt Groening).
