About the Author

The text for Perennials was compiled with the help of distinguished and internationally recognized plant experts. Michael Upward has had a long-standing interest in perennial plants, raising them at Lye End Nursery in England, which he and his wife inherited some 20 years ago. For 30 years he has been secretary of the Alpine Garden Society, as well as a member of the Hardy Plant Society, of which he was treasurer in the 1960s. He has contributed to many horticultural publications. Linden Hawthorne, professional horticulturist, writer, and editor of a number of horticultural reference works, including The New RHS Dictionary of Gardening. She was formerly a horticulturist at Harlow Carr Botanic Gardens in Harrogate.
