Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

This new volume in the Studies in the Dead Sea Scrolls and Related Literature series explores two principal themes: the text and shape of the "Bible" at Qumran and the interpretation of these scriptures by the Qumran community and other ancient Jews. Written by leading scholars in the field, these informed studies make an important contribution to our understanding of these two pivotal topics.

Book News Annotation:

The Dead Sea Scrolls have been the focus of much interest in recent years, especially since the publication in 1991 of texts from Qumran Cave 4. In this volume, ten biblical scholars explore the text and shape of the "Bible" at Qumran and the interpretation of these scriptures by the Qumran community and other ancient Jews. Four of the essays were originally presented as papers at the Dead Sea Scrolls Institute of Trinity Western U., one is a reprint, and the others were written by invitation for this volume.
