Every Day's a Dog's Day: A Year in Poems

Every Day's a Dog's Day: A Year in Poems Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Poems perfect for a year in the life - a dog's life, that is!

Day in, day out, our dogs are there for it all. But they see holidays quite differently than we do - Halloween, for example, is when you can't tell the real cats from the costumes! And, of course, dogs have special days of their own, like Hole Digging Day or the dreaded Visit to the Vet Day. Perfect for dog lovers of all ages, this clever book by one of the leading children's poets celebrates all those days and more, looking at a whole year in the life of our canine companions.

Review:

"In lively and often humorous poems that range from rhymed couplets to haiku, Singer describes different days of the year from a dog's point of view. Though a dog doesn't understand what 'Valentine' means, some things are clear: 'She hugs me, gives me kisses,/ and something good to gnaw./ She has my heart already,/ so I offer her my paw.' More frequent events are no less special for a dog: 'It's a cause for celebration/ when a feline shows its face.' Sakamoto creates blissful scenes of cartoon dogs engaged in familiar behaviors like digging, snoozing, and relating to the kids that love them. Ages 3 — up. Agent: Brenda Bowen, Sanford J. Greenburger Associates." Publishers Weekly Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.
