Table of Contents

* More than 40 daily social situations form the core of the book and cover such occasions as greetings, ordering at a restaurant, buying tickets, finding your way, stating your likes and dislikes, and asking about the things around you. Throughout these sections, example sentences and clearly written grammar notes guide you every step of the way.

* Simple but effective speaking drills and over 30 basic Japanese sentence patterns build upon each other to show you how to speak correctly, not with formulaic phrases but with real statements that reflect your inclination.

* In addition to vocabulary lists containing hundreds of words, there is an index, three special sections on Japanese verbs, and appendixes of frequently seen characters and Japanese words borrowed from English.
