If you've ever considered writing a book but had no idea how to start/keep going/feel inspired/etc. this is the book for you. By the founder of NaNoWriMo or National Novel Writing Month, this book coaches you through the process. As the tagline says, "At midnight tonight the train departs. Fifty thousand words. Thirty days. An unforgettable ride." It's a very informative book, not preachy at all, but instead very accessible and hilarious, too.

You've got to read this book. It's an absolute hoot. Read it now, and pass around to your friends. You CAN write a book in November. Yes, this November. This book will prepare you for writing a book at breakneck speed. In November. By December, sit back with a cold drink and congratulate yourself on completing a novel in 30 days with the rest of us. Complete instruction, including plot bunnies and inner editors.

I have been writing freelance for over 25 years, but have always made excuses why I could not write the novel I KNEW was inside of me. My son, also an aspiring fiction writer, got tired of my procrastination so he bought me this kit for Christmas. This July, I decided to give it a try and--LO AND BEHOLD--I should finish the lasts 1500 words of the first draft of my 50,000 word novel TODAY. This kit is motivating, humorous, and struck a genuine chord with me. It has made so much difference in my life and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who wants to write. Now all I have to do is edit this rough first draft--and I owe it all to Chris Baty's incredible program--and to my brilliant son!
