The JPS edition of The Torah: The Five Books of Moses is a book that should be in every Jewish home. [Christians can also benefit from knowing how the people of the book read the book.] Hebrew Union College Professor of Bible Harry Orlinsky led a team of scholars and rabbis that labored many years to produce this edition that is based on the tradional Hebrew Masoretic text , the insights of Jewish scholars from antiquity throught the 20th century, and the latest findings of archaeology and studies of the languages and cultures of the ancient Near East. The result is an accurate, clear presentation in contemporary English, with brief notes, as appropriate.
