The Measure of a Man: Twenty Attributes of a Godly Manby Gene A. Getz
Synopses & Reviews
The bestselling book The Measure of a Man continues to impact millions of men around the world, but it has long been author Gene Getz’s dream to bring that message to young men who are still in the process of finding their identities. When his son, Kenton, was in junior high, Gene wrote a\ series of letters to him based on 1 Timothy 4:12: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” Out of that verse, Gene drew seven principles that he hoped would inspire Kenton to become a young man of faith, strength and godly purpose.
Gene and his son, who is now a father of five, have teamed up to share these principles with young men and their families. The Measure of a Young Man challenges readers to find their identity in Christ and to set a high standard for themselves in words, in daily living, in loving others, in growing faith and in sexuality. It also encourages young men to reach out to a network of fathers, grandfathers, youth pastors and Christian peers who will support their growth to faithful, godly maturity.
"The Measure of a Woman" helps women discover their strengths and learn from their weaknesses so that they can truly live in accordance with Gods Word. The world tells us one thing about beauty, but God's Word relates that beauty is something much deeper. When women learn how to be beautiful from the inside out, they gain respect and serve as examples to other women. Gene and Elaine Getz share these time-tested and proven guidelines that have led countless women to become living proof of God's love and grace. Here is a chance for even more women to discover the secret to biblical femininity.
Since 1974, men around the world have practiced the biblical teaching in this book to live by God’s terms. Now you can follow in their footsteps to reach God’s standards as a father, a husband, and a mentor to other men—and Gene Getz tells you how to make the grade. True masculinity isn’t measured by strength but by these 20 biblical guidelines drawn from the apostle Paul’s letters to Timothy and Titus. With ideas for real-life applications and words of inspiration, here is Gene’s greatest work— fully rewritten and updated to speak in the most practical terms to men from every generation.
