The Oregon Desert is a wild, rough region that does things to people who try to change it. It is like "The anvil that wears the hammer out." Stories of life on the desert are told with deep, subtle humor, wisdom and charm, producing a delightful book.

About the Author

Reub Long is a cowboy who thinks like a scientist and E.R. Jackman is a scientist who thinks like a cowboy. Together they have produced a book about a unique region of the American West and its inhabitants, filled with history, lore and humor.

This is an excellent book to get real history of the Oregon High Desert from Reub Long, a man that grew up in the Silver Lake area. He grew up poor, tough and knows how to survive the life style of the desert. What a different time it is from when he grew up there.
This book would be great for any age. Students that are learning about Oregon... to adults that want to explore a different part of Oregon.
