This is the definitive survey of the plant communities of Oregon and Washington, with excellent treatment of how the nature of those communities is influenced by geology, topography, and climate.
It was originally written for an audience presumed to consist primarily of specialists, and those who are not comfortable with technical language and a formal, scientific style of presentation will probably find it unsatisfactory.
For anyone with the necessary background, or the willingness to look up anything that's unfamiliar, it is an essential work that belongs in the library of anyone interested in the natural world of the two states it covers.
