About the AuthorEugene N. Kozloff, professor at the University of Washington, does his research at Friday Harbor Laboratories. An authority on the natural history of the Pacific Northwest, his previous books include Seashore Life of the Northern Pacific Coast, Plants and Animals of the Pacific Northwest, and Plants of the San Francisco Bay Region, among others. He enjoys introducing others to the wonders of plants and animals by teaching nature classes in the San Juan Islands and other areas of western Washington. One of his hobbies is growing native plants and promoting their use in gardens.
