Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Joyce Dugan had no idea that she was about to committ an act that would instigate a chain of murders. Darius Conn was the last guy you'd think would kill his wife. Claude Atkins had let Rose tease him long enough — it was time she came across, or else. William Pierce knew how to stash a stiff, and to take care of any other bothersome details. John Dubinski didn't mind the hard travelling, so long as he could collect at the end of the line. Crime stories didn't interest Joyce Williams — not until this one. The first killing was kind of hard — but after that, no problem.

Review:

"[A] masterfully delivered tale of an inconspicious citizen who found murder simple and a short cut to wealth....The climax packs a brilliant wallop!" Chicago Tribune

Review:

"The reader, like the characters, walks a knife-edge — a study in sheer suspense." Brett Halliday

Review:

"The best thing Frederic Brown has ever written!" Albuquerque Tribune

Review:

"Frederic Brown is my favorite writer of all time." Mickey Spillane
